- I built my dad the machine that I wanted.
I built my dad the machine that I wanted.
It's not a bad rig.
I put it all in the new Thermaltake Xaser6(Red and Black version).
EVGA nforce 780i motherboard with tri-SLI capability (I only used one card).
Intel C2Q 2.66 proc.
OCZ ReaperX Dual Channel 4096MB PC8000 DDR2 1000MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB).
EVGA GeForce GTX 280 Video Card SSC Edition, 1GB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0
4 500gig Seagate Baracuda SATA drives set in a raid 5 array.
2 ASUS DVD Burners
and a 750 watt power supply.
I get to try it out for a month or two before he is ready to go balls out on digital video editing. He has been doing analog video editing for 10-15 years. He finally got up the courage to go digital. He doesn't do a whole lot of editing, mostly weddings and sports highlight videos. So, I set him up with Pinnacle Studio 11 to start out with. I didn't see any sense in spending $700$E1000 on a program he may never use more than $100 worth of the features. Plus, I had a good head start on pinnacle. That means less time learing to teach and more time drooling over the graphics. HL2 looked awesome. I tried to convince him to let me build two so I could keep one as a test bed in case anything went wrong. He didn't agree with my logic.

Logical to whom captain?
Hoping myself to have a game rig built as soon as I can get my finances back on track. Nothing fancy as far as cases, etc. but definitely high end cpu, gpu, ram, etc. May have a person lined up to build it when I'm reaady.
