Creating your own clan forums
Once you're done configuring your personal profile, you might want to start a profile specifically for your clan. Here's a few tips:
First, ONLY the person who is in charge of the clan should start the clan pages. It's created from within your own "edit profile" - look for "add my clan pages".
The clan profile is very similar to user profiles in most regards with the addition of layout options for forums. You can also set a minimum karma rating someone must have to be able to post in your forums to keep out the riff-raff.
In order to add forums to your clan page, you will need to enable the forums while editing your profile - it's a checkbox. Then, you will need to use the "Forum Manager" link from your clan's profile page. It will allow you to create groups and forums and specify permissions. The "Forum" link on the profile page will take you to your clan's forums.
Voila! No software to install, and your clan has it's very own forums. You can also specify one or more forums to be only available for clan members.
One nice feature is the ability to control who posts in a forum, while leaving it open for anyone to read. This is good for announcement sections, etc. that need to be available all the time.
There are three types of permissions you can assign to a forum: moderators, allow and deny.
Moderators are special. Anyone you place here is allowed to moderate that particular forum. You can also choose "All clan members" as a moderator.
Allow and Deny specify who can POST to a forum (this has no affect on who can read a forum - to make a forum for members only, check the members only checkbox.)
If there is a person who you don't want posting in a particular forum anymore, but you still want them to be able to read, you can add them to the "deny" list. Mostly, though, the deny list would be used to add "All gamerzcrib users" to. This prevents any user from being able to post by default. You can then add specific people to the allow list to give them permission to post. The allow list overrides the deny list.
I hope that's not too confusing, and it should give you an idea of how to get the ball rolling for your clan pages.
