I can do a similar concept to the image uploader for files like map packs and the realism pack, etc.

I was thinking this could be a clan-only feature, and the files would only be available to clan members to download. This keeps it from becoming a huge bandwidth hog because someone on the Internet publishes a URL to one of the files on my servers with the latest huge game patch.

What do you guys think? Useful? Or too limiting if only for clan members?

It has been my experience that it's give and take. If a clan plays custom maps either new players won't even want to bother with your server if they cant easily obtain the maps, or they and other clans will flood your site to get them if your packs are known to be the best around. Unless I stand corrected this isn't a problem for games like cod2 as the files can be directly downloaded from the game server. However MOHS requires you to download every map, mod, etc other then perhaps the server sided ones if I'm correct. I will primarily go stock maps, but with some mods. I'm considering using box.net to share them and post links to them. I'm not familiar with FTP. Is this or another way better?
