Karma Explained
What is this karma of which you speak?

Well, "karma" is a thermometer of your coolness level. Any time someone likes something you said anywhere on gamerzcrib.com they can vote your comment or post up by one vote. If they don't like what you said, they can vote it down as well. Each person only gets one vote per comment, and you can't vote on your own posts.

The number of people who flag you as a friend also increases your karma rating. Here, you will notice a difference from other social sites - we do not require that both ends of a friend connection agree to the "friendship", but flagging someone else as your friend only improves their standings, not yours.

Flagging someone as a friend is also an easy way to stay in touch. Later on we will be implemented an address book for the message system that will use your friends list.

There are other things that affect karma - secret things.

Why care about karma? If your karma drops too low, you won't be able to leave comments on some profile pages or post in certain forums. Users can set a "troll limit" that will automatically hide any comments that are below a certain threshold (for that comment), and they can also set a threshold of a minimum karma required to post on their pages.

Karma also affects the sort order when someone clicks on a tag. If you have a higher karma, you're more likely to show on the first page.

Clans also have an internal karma rating for sorting, but this is not displayed like it is for users. Clan karma is affected by different things including how active their users are. Clan karma is updated daily, where user karma is updated immediately.
