Banners
Hello, I would like to customize my profile banner. I have no scripting background, but have managed to figure out how to change colors, and text sizes in the various areas. Is there a way to put a picture banner, that I haven't created yet, where the Header space is? Sorry, if it's a dumb question. I have a friend who moderates one of the World of Warcraft clans, Dark Exiles, we were talking about trying to make the clan starting template more than just solid colors. It would certainly be cool to either .pic or .gif a banner for both personal profile, and the clan profile. Any thoughts on how I can spin myself up on that kind of knowledge?

Print, on Lightbringer.

RE: Banners
Our system uses standard CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and HTML for your layout. You'll find those two boxes in your profile setup. Sounds like you're already changing colors in the CSS, but a bit of CSS knowledge would help you to understand changing images as well.

We provided a few "stock" themes, and I expect at some point people with design skills will offer third party theme layouts for GC much like happens for Myspace.

One tip I'll give - kind of an "advanced" feature if you will - you can upload images to your account and uncheck the box that puts them in your slideshow. You can then copy the URL for the image and paste it into the appropriate section of your CSS box once you know where to put it. That lets the GC server actually host your images as well so you don't have to use one of the free image hosting services that rarely work right.

My best suggestion for learning is to play around with the stock themes I've provided and study a little CSS design. It's easier if you copy the text out of the CSS input box and paste it into notepad to see the entire thing. In most cases I removed the carriage-returns to make it fit smaller, so you can always hit return after all the semi-colons and make it easier to read.

RE: Banners
Also, if you ever screw up your profile beyond recognition, you can go to any page on GamerzCrib and click to edit your profile from there, then apply one of the stock themes back to your account. It's entirely possible to make your profile page completely unusable by changing what's in the CSS and layout boxes, but applying a different theme will overwrite your changes and put you back to square one.

That's why you don't have to go to your profile page in order to edit the page.

RE: Banners
Correct me if I'm wrong CM? When you upload your image to your screenshots manager or a site like photobucket there is an address you can use to post the image on a site.

RE: Banners
Here is a site that I have used to host Images For Dark Exiles Clan, it seems to work really well.

RE: Banners
How can I upload images to my account? Otherwise I'm trying to change my profile header, using an image host but I'm having difficulty finding the right height, and width. I either come up with 2 or more of the same images so I figure my default pic is the right height but not wide enough. , or none at all will show up when I adjust it.

RE: Banners
Well.. you should have no problem uploading images into the GC servers to host - i86u seems to be having problems in that regard. It works every time I test it.

Can someone else confirm a JPG file upload problem?

RE: Banners
Despite that it appeared as though I was perhaps the only known person continously having difficulty with uploading screenshots, CM had not abandoned me in attempting to figure out the problem. I am very pleased to inform others upon forwarding information / suggestions back and forth, he has resolved the problem. If you are using I.E. 7 in this instance, he discoverd it was due to how I.E. recognises the type of image. Another fine example of gamerzcrib quality support !
